Basic Wedding Dress & Couture Accessories?

One of the latest trends in bridal fashion is the use of couture accessories to elevate the look of a modestly priced bridal gown.   Brides will purchase a basic gown, for say $500, from retailers like J. Crew and then purchase designer accessories (shoes, belts, shawls, headpieces and jewelry) from high-end salons and retailers.    This makes sense to most brides since a dress will only be worn once (unless saved for a daughter) but the accessories can be worn again and again.

As someone who spends more on accessories than clothes, this is a trend after my own heart.   My rationale:   I can wear a designer handbag every day but I might get funny looks if I wear the same clothing every day :)
