Use Monograms to Personalize Your Wedding

For centuries, monograms have been used to denote status, label property and give a personal touch to everything from fine linens to stationery.   Personalize your wedding by adding your monogram to all of your wedding items, from invitations to the wedding cake.

If you plan to use a three-letter monogram in your wedding, please note that in North America the tradition is for the monogram to read from left to right as follows (the bride's first name or initial is always printed first):
  1. Bride's first name initial
  2. First initial of the shared last name
  3. Groom's first name initial
If you plan to have the monogram of your bridal party engraved or embroidered onto gifts, the monogram should read as follows:
  1.  First name initial
  2.  Last name initial
  3. Middle name initial
The middle letter of the three-letter monogram is often printed larger than the outer letters.  However, depending on the monogram style and your personal preference, you may choose to have all letters printed the same size.

Of course, you could always go with a single letter that denotes your shared last name or incorporate your first name initials into a two-letter monogram.

Wedding Dessert Buffet Ideas - Too Sweet To Resist

Thought I'd share more wedding dessert buffet ideas that are a cinch to duplicate.  You won't need to hire a pro to carry these off.  See how the first dessert buffet (actually for a baby shower) provided inspiration for the two dessert table themes that follow it.  When creating your own buffet, remember to add elements that create height such as wrapped gift boxes and picture frames.  Isn't it neat how everything from the cookies to the favor tags are color coordinated.  More dessert buffet inspiration

Preserving Your Wedding Photos

After you settle on a photographer, give some thought to how you'll display your precious memories.   Here are a few options for preserving your wedding photos and what you should know about each option:

Photo Album:  Albums are often included in the photo package but some can cost up to a few thousand dollars.  A typical photo album is comprised of anywhere from 50 to 500 photos chosen from your proofs. Ask for archival albums made of acid free paper to preserve photos up to 100 years.

Prints:  Prints are often included in the photo package with extras costing from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars each.  Unlike proofs, prints have been color corrected, adjusted for light and printed on archival paper.
Always ensure that the prints will be done by a quality lab or in the photographer's darkroom.

Disc of digital images (CD):  Some photographers will make available to you a CD(s) containing digital files (negatives)  that you can use to have reprints made (make sure your contract allows for this).  You'll need the files to be at least 300 DPI to produce quality reprints.

Archival box of photos:  Some photographers provide an acid free archival box containing up to 40 hand-retouched photos that are usually mounted on card stock.  Make sure the photos will not have the studio's watermark or logo across the photos so that you can display them.
