Entertaining Children at a Wedding

Keeping your young wedding guests amused can be a challenge. Here are some tips for ensuring that wee guests enjoy themselves at your wedding reception:

Decorate kids' tables with a paper table cloth to avoid damage to the more expensive cloth version. Provide crayons and let them color on the table cloth.

Place crayons, coloring books and fun stickers on each table to inspire creative play.

Create a kid-friendly centerpiece for each table. One idea to try: lollipop displays. Use white craft foam to make the lollipops stand up in any type of shallow container. Simply cut the foam to size and make sure it’s a little bit shorter than the container. Stick the lollipops into the foam, then pour on a layer of candy or popcorn to hide the foam.

Make sure that children are fed in a timely manner with age-appropriate food options. Let children participate in the toast by having kid-friendly cocktails or another appropriate beverage.

If you'll have favors as part of your reception table settings, place favors on each child's setting that will occupy them such as customized wedding coloring books, toy cars or bubbles or mini gumball machines.
